Justin Bieber Shot Dead on 'CSI'

Twitter is all over this.

Justin Bieber's foray into acting has ended in a hail of bullets. The singer returned to CSI Thursday night to play criminal Jason McCann, but something tells me it will be his very last appearance.

Read: Justin Bieber 2.0 - Heather Russell
For a moment there, I thought all those hoaxes about Justin Bieber's death had finally come true. So was it some freak hair-styling accident? Had Esperanza Spalding finally put a hit out on King Biebs?
Actually, Bieber is just one bad dude who had it coming.

(Spoiler Alert) In last night's episode, "Targets of Obsession," Justin's Jason McCann is discovered to be the mastermind behind a house-bombing. He then goes on the run with an accomplice, only to end in a stand-off with police.

Read: Justin Bieber Vs. Lady Gaga On YouTube
McCann then steps out of the car, shoots a police officer, and is promptly gunned down in slow motion. It's every teenage boy's action movie dream.

Anyway, check out Bieber's "leaden" performance in the clip below

'Nelson' Twin Sued for Trash-Talking Nightclub - It's all over an interview Nelson gave on Examiner.com last August -- two years after performing at Jaxx nightclub in Springfield, VA -- in which the singer calls the venue the "lowpoint" of his career ... and insists the owner still owes him $8,000 for his performance.

County Superior Court this month, Nelson's allegations "have had a great negative impact upon Nedry's personal and business reputation, as well as that of Jaxx Nightclub by deterring persons from dealing with him individually and the club."

How Lindsay Could Go To Jail Without a Trial

Lindsay Lohan could go to jail for more than a year for allegedly stealing that necklace ... and it could happen without a jury, without a trial .... without grand theft charges even being pursued.

How Lindsay Could Go To Jail Without a Trial - After doing some investigating, we discovered the D.A. could drop the felony grand theft case completely.  But that wouldn't end Lindsay's legal woes -- not by a long shot.

How Lindsay Could Go To Jail Without a Trial - Prosecutor Danette Meyers could go back to court and ask the judge to violate Lindsay's DUI probation ... on grounds she stole the necklace.

How Lindsay Could Go To Jail Without a Trial - The judge in the probation case could then hold a hearing -- without a jury -- to determine if Lindsay did indeed pilfer the jewelry.
How Lindsay Could Go To Jail Without a Trial - Now here's the big problem for Lindsay.  In a criminal case, the D.A. must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt -- in other words, convincing a jury that there's a 98 to 99% chance that she did the deed.

How Lindsay Could Go To Jail Without a Trial - But in a probation violation case, all the judge has to decide is that it's more likely than not that she stole the jewelry -- in other words, that there's a 50.1% chance she did it.

How Lindsay Could Go To Jail Without a Trial - Sources connected with the D.A.'s office tell us ... prosecutors believe they could ask for more than 1 year in jail if the judge decides Lindsay violated her probation.

How Lindsay Could Go To Jail Without a Trial - And one final piece of bad news. It's very possible if the D.A. dismissed the grand theft case, the probation violation matter would go back to Judge Elden Fox in Beverly Hills, who has totally lost patience with Lindsay.

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Thursday night (February 10) kicked off Hollywood Week on "American Idol," where water bottles are liberally used as microphones, pajamas are considered appropriate TV attire and the judges can cut all the sad sacks with sob stories who they felt guilted into advancing the first time.

In other words, this is my now.
'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Seacrest knows what's up. In the intro, he wistfully intoned, "Countless dreams will be tested as we start this epic journey." I salivated with anticipation. (I also shuddered when I tried to imagine my dreams being tested. Please don't test that one dream where I'm a house cat and I get to sleep and snuggle 23 hours a day, Seacrest. It's my favorite ever! Purrrr.)

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Unfortunately, the first hour of Hollywood Week did not live up to the hype that Seacrest enjoys perpetuating.

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Before we get to the juicy drama-producing group numbers, we have to endure an obvious sudden death round. Everyone performs a cappella. There are no comments from the judges, other than a final "You, you, you, step forward. You stay. Everyone else, sashay away."

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears But instead of introducing new characters or revealing new traits about singers we already met, we just got recaps of back-stories and small snippets of performances from people we've already heard sing. Are we having fun yet?

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears The most egregious waste of time was the segment devoted to people who studied the Kristy Lee Cook and Kimberley Locke playbooks by singing the same damn audition song over and over again. Baritone cowboy Scotty McCreery, old man aficionado Jackie Wilson and hat addict Jerome Bell didn't bother learning a new tune for Hollywood Week, yet all of them made it to the next round. And this was important to share with viewers because?

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Meanwhile, an early favorite like Sarah Sellers was booted to the curb without any explanation whatsoever. Couldn't producers have given us at least three seconds of her botching a note so we can sleep at night? It's bad storytelling! No wonder "Idol" super-fans are often kvetching about conspiracy theories and producer pimping.

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears While I'm on the subject, did anyone else notice the red, circular stickers on the judges' notes? If a contestant's picture had a red sticker, it meant "Idol" was planning to feature them in their audition episodes. Subtext: Make sure you think twice about cutting them. Ooooof.

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears This year, the judges had a Sisyphean task of whittling down the talent pool, since they had given Golden Tickets to every Tom, Dick, Harry or Jane willing to cry about their family secrets on television. (Seacrest told us they had let through twice as many as usual. That's a lot of tragedy.)

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears So how did our favorite survivors do? Chris "Starbucks Pays Me But My Fiancée In A Wheelchair Is My Meal Ticket" Medina's Jason Mraz was as shaky as his first audition. The mom of a special-needs daughter, Paris Tassin strained her voice during Celine's "Titanic" ballad, cracking on the lyric, "There's nothing I fear." (I guess she should fear high notes.) And James "I Have Tourette's and Asperger's So Bloggers Aren't Allowed To Make Fun Of My Mohawk Or My Decision To Drape Leopard Print Fabric Out The Back Of My Jeans" Durbin shrieked "Oh! Darling" in such an unpleasant way, my neighbors stopped by to make sure I wasn't murdering small woodland creatures in my apartment.

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Naturally, all three made it to the next round. (The only featured sob story singer to go home was — irony alert! — homeless teen Travis Orland. His story just wasn't sad enough. His anemic "This Love" just didn't cut it.)

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Meanwhile, teenagers continued to get oodles of screen time. Remember 17-year-old Hollie Cavanagh, who melted into a puddle of nervous tears and dry heaves in front of the judges in Austin? Well, she's back with a Prozac prescription and a fierce little makeover. Girl confidently belted out a Miley Cyrus song the way God intended. I like her.

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Then, Jacee Badeaux (aka Stoic Cherub) opened his adorable tiny little baby mouth to let moonbeams and unicorns fly around the auditorium. He sang a Rascal Flatts song about how he's been looking for true love for years, which means he's been a lothario since he was, what, seven years old? This little stud. I've got my eye on you, Stoic Cherub. In 18 months, you'll be inescapable and we'll be lining up to see your 3-D biopic, "Never Say Never To Having A Personality."

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears It’s hard to believe that Robbie Rosen is only 16 years old. First of all, he looks like he has been starring in a dinner theater production of "Jersey Boys" for years. But more importantly, his powerful voice attacked "Moody's Mood For Love" and left it for dead on the side of the road. No note half-assed, no octave off limits.

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears One of my faves, Brett Loewenstern, lived up to his first audition with a passionate (yet endearingly neurotic) "Let It Be." Fingers crossed he ditches the "I was bullied" angle as well as his habit of adding an extra "ugh" to the end of every line. The song isn't called "Let It Be-Ugh," friend!

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Interestingly enough, producers' fave Lauren "Kelly Clarkson Watch Your Back" Alaina came across less polished in Hollywood, with an unhinged "Unchained Melody" that would have had Simon Cowell storming off the set. And I'm still baffled by the appeal of ladychild Thia Megia. Her rainbow zip-up hoodie made from recycled dishrags didn't warm me up to her over-the-top "Summertime," either. The fish may be jumpin' but only to get far, far away from Thia's affected performance style.

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Even the tension Hollywood week usually cultivates so well fell flat. I could see producers setting up Victoria Huggins' exit a mile away. Between the sunny Southern belle's overconfident bites ("I'm gonna stay for a while, because I am the next 'American Idol' so duh!"), and her segment was edited for maximum irritation. I imagine Nigel Lythgoe was hoping viewers would cheer when the chipper teen got a reality check. (Apparently "Idol" is not looking for head-to-toe pink outfits — cowboy boots included — and sassy interpretations of songs by Seacrest's alleged girlfriend Julianne Hough.) I'm proud of the way Victoria handled herself when faced with the bad news. There were tears, but Higgins still kept her composure while she and her vest-sporting momager quietly left the premises with their 11 bags. Her mature reaction was the best kind of middle finger to producers who were definitely hoping for a major freak out from this girl. Good for you, Victoria. Fight the power!

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Later, "Idol" separated "couple" Nick Fink and Jacqueline Dunford. On our way to a commercial break, Seacrest promised "a shocking departure" when we returned, leaving us to ponder the couple's completely obvious fate. Nick's rendition of "New Shoes" was even more painful than his shiny silver sports jacket, so he was told to pack his knives and go. Maybe the words "shocking departure" mean something different in England? You know, the way the British call elevators "lifts" and Oasis "good music."

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears And don't even begin to tell me that his pathetic begging for a second shot was "shocking." The way these two played up their relationship for the cameras should have telegraphed that they would not give up their 15 minutes of fame quickly or quietly.

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears Exes Rob Bolin and Chelsee Oaks (who you remember from CMT's "Can You Duet") both survived this round. But Rob, it's time you moved on from Chelsee. Did you see her hotel room? She's a messy unpacker. Deal-breaker!

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears The one moment of spontaneity and excitement came in the form of Bronx spitfire Tiffany Rios, who boldly announced in front of everyone, "I'm tired of seeing people try to do what I know I can." She was right, too. Nobody put tinsel in her weave, squatted and shouted quite like Tiffany. Now that's good television.

'American Idol' Recap: Hollywood Week Thins The Herd, Hurts The Ears What did you think of our first season 10 Hollywood Week episode? Do you think shouty Casey Abrams' free hugs to the eliminated contestants came off as side-eye inducing in person as they did on TV? (I never trust a winner who is that over-eager to console losers.) Did you respect the eliminated Stormi Henley for admitting she only got a Golden Ticket because Randy and Steven wanted to do filthy things to her? And do you think accountant Steve Beghun was cut simply because his profession was deemed even more boring than "paint salesman"? Leave a comment below, and as the "Idol" season picks up, you definitely want to follow me on Twitter @jambajim to keep up with all the latest.

Justin Bieber faces the biggest threat to his career: puberty

Justin Bieber

Voice over? ... Justin Bieber has been struggling recently with his upper range. Photograph: Startraks Photo/Rex Features
The greatest threat to Justin Bieber's career may not be lawsuits, piracy or Willow Smith – but puberty. The 16-year-old's voice is dropping, according to reports, and his label is offering him "vocal conditioning".

Bieber's fans first noticed his vocal troubles in November, during the singer's shaky performance of Pray at the American Music awards. Since then, label boss LA Reid has stepped in by hiring Jan Smith, the vocal coach who helped Bieber's mentor, Usher, in the early-90s. "She has me doing vocal ... exercises regularly," Bieber said.

This obviously is not the first time a teen star's voice has cracked. More than a decade ago, it was Usher who was struggling with his upper range – and it almost ruined him. "Losing my voice fucked me up," Usher recently told the Hollywood Reporter. His label – Island Def Jam, which now represents Bieber – was far from sympathetic. "[I] lost it," admitted Reid. "I heard [Usher] at a showcase, and he couldn't sing. I was embarrassed. It was like: 'Damn, where's the voice? What happened to his tone? Where's the power and the range?' It was all gone. I wanted to drop him. I wanted to be out of business with him. I broke his heart. I broke his mother's heart. It was a very tough period in both our lives."

Thankfully for Usher, Diddy – then known as Puff Daddy – stepped in and told Reid not to "be a fool". "[He said,] 'Don't sell your stock in Usher,'" Reid said. "'He's still going to be a star. He's everything you thought he was the day you signed him.'" Reid's patience has since reaped its rewards – Usher remains a huge star – and the label boss is applying the same attitude to Bieber's pubescent troubles. "I know how to be encouraging now," Reid said. "Puffy was right."

For the moment, Bieber is promoting his new 3D movie, Never Say Never, which opens today. "I'm not just some packaged thing that some A&R put together," he told MTV News. "I'm just a regular 16-year-old having fun, just living my dream." But he's also a 16-year-old with millions of fans. As The-Dream put it, describing the sound of Bieber's new material, Justin is "somewhere between Fergie and Jesus". Even Jesus Christ's voice had to break some time.

Kim: 'Everything Is Better With a K'

Kim: 'Everything Is Better With a K' Terry Richardson Yes, Kim Kardashian is gracing yet another magazine cover. This time around she's decked out as Cleopatra as a tribute to her idol, Elizabeth Taylor, whom she also interviews for the March issue of Harper's Bazaar. Of course, the mag made sure to get some choice quotes from the 30-year-old reality star, too, who reveals that she gained 10 pounds while filming "Kourtney and Kim Take New York."

Kim: 'Everything Is Better With a K' "All the papers were like, Kim's pregnant!" she laughs. "I ate the nuts on the street corner, the hot dogs, the street meat. It was not a joke." As a result, she's now on a diet. "I need to be," she insists. "I love to eat -- Kit Kats or cookies-and-cream ice cream. I need sugar like five times a day," adding, "It's such a struggle for me to eat healthy."

Kim: 'Everything Is Better With a K' It's also a struggle for her to convince critics that she has any real talent aside from her looks. While that may be partly true, no one can deny that she's turned her reality star status into quite the business empire. "I would absolutely characterize myself as ambitious," she says, crediting her late father, famed O.J. Simpson lawyer Robert Kardashian, and her mother, Kris Jenner, with instilling a strong work ethic in her. "My parents raised us saying that at 18, we'd be cut off," she explains. "If we wanted this lifestyle, we had to work extra hard to get it. All of our friends had credit cards and cell phones, but that wasn't even a possibility."

Kim: 'Everything Is Better With a K' Kim Kardashian channels Cleopatra for her Harper's Bazaar photo shoot. Terry Richardson

Kim: 'Everything Is Better With a K' Now, anything seems to be possible for the curvaceous Armenian, who recently filmed her first music video with Kanye West. "I can carry a tune, yeah," she brags. "I have a cute little voice. I talked to people in the business, and they said, 'This is what we do for fun. You go to the movies, you go shopping, why don't you try what we do?'"

Terry Richardson Terry Richardson
She also likes to tweet a lot, and when Kim tweets, all of her 6 million plus followers listen. "Once I tweeted, 'Oh my God, I just tried a Golden Oreo. I've never in my life had something so amazing,'" she recalls. "Then Oreo sent me crates of them. To my door. Hmm, I like Bentleys, flat-screen TVs, diamonds... " she muses.

Kim: 'Everything Is Better With a K' As Harper's Bazaar notes, clearly, Kardashian is doing something right. "Everything is better with a K," she says with a touch of irony. "Klassy with a K -- har, har, har. But life is funner with a K."

Kim: 'Everything Is Better With a K' When Kim asked Elizabeth Taylor which of today's actors she would like to work with, the film legend replied: "I love Johnny Depp, and I love Colin Farrell -- both brilliant, nuanced actors with great range."

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Premieres

Lady Gaga

Gaga channels '90s dance music on new track celebrating individuality.

Fun, empowering and over-the-top. Those are the first adjectives that come to mind upon hearing Lady Gaga's "Born This Way." \ Between Gaga's empowering lyrics and the music's heavy club influences, the song is set to appease her fans and pop lovers everywhere who had no idea what Gaga had up her meat sleeves for this highly anticipated single, which debuted early Friday morning (February 11).

At first listen, it sounds a lot like a '90s club anthem that could have been pulled right out Madonna's "Vogue" period, complete with rhythmic spoken-word parts. But upon a closer listen, Gaga's distinct voice makes the song all hers.

"It doesn't matter if you love him or capital H-I-M," she says on loop at the song's beginning, "because you were born this way, baby."

As synths crash into a beat, Gaga belts out the song's first verse, "My mama told me when I was young/ We are all born superstars." She then quickly moves into the chorus, and it's clear this song is meant to be heard in a big space. It's fast and hard-hitting.

Gaga sings/speaks in the middle of the song: "Don't be a drag, be a queen/ Whether you're broke or evergreen/ You're black, white, beige, chola descent/ You're Lebanese, You're Orient/ Whether life's disabilities/ Left you outcast, bullied or teased/ Rejoice and love yourself today/ 'Cause baby you we're born this way/ No matter gay, straight, or bi/ Lesbian, transgendered life/ I'm on the right track baby/ I was born to survive/ No matter black, white or beige/ Chola or Orient made/ I'm on the right track baby/ I was born to be brave."

The music fades out momentarily as Gaga sings a cappella before a synthy organ comes back in and she closes out the song, her voice clear and strong. The song is part gospel for her little monsters (particularly the ones who feel persecuted for their sexuality or other differences) and part funky dance tune that anyone could relate to.

The song was written and co-produced by Gaga. Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow also got co-production credits on the track, which will appear on her May album of the same name.
