  Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - We open right where we left off: with Sam passed out on the floor.  Dean is devastated that Sam is obviously remembering Hell (but doesn't cry the one perfect tear….damnit!).  Fortunately, Sam comes out of the memory and the boys split.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - The next morning, Dean’s trying to push pain pills on Sam while they discuss Sam’s ‘episode’ from the night before.  And it’s deja vu, when one brother doesn’t want to tell the other about his Hell nightmares.  Dean is resolute that Sam absolutely, positively, must STOP digging up past memories, then suggests they go investigate the dead janitor.  While at the science lab, Dean ignores a call from Lisa, while Sam picks up an EMF trace near a mannequin.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - Cue the semi-porno/’80s workout soundtrack (seriously, worst music ever on the show), while the boys go through the security tapes, only to find the part with the murder was tampered with.  The janitor’s girlfriend is also a dead end.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - Cut to a mannequin warehouse, where a worker hears strange noises at night and then gets stabbed by a possessed mannequin.  The next morning, the boys arrive at the newest crime scene and Sam’s EMF meter again goes haywire near a mannequin, so he suggests the mannequins are being possessed.  Shortly after, the boys find a girl who disappeared has a connection to the factory.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - At which point Dean gets another call from Lisa and, at Sam’s urging, answers it.  Only it’s not Lisa, it’s Ben, who tells Dean Lisa’s in trouble.  Sam tells Dean to go help Lisa and Ben and then goes to speak to the disappeared girl’s (Rose) sister.  He discovers that both sisters worked at the mannequin factory and sees a photo with Rose and other factory workers, including the factory victim.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - More bad music over a montage of Sam interviewing factory workers.  Oh, I lament the days of good music on this show.  He finds one of the male factory workers is acting kind of suspicious.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - After arriving at Lisa’s house, Dean finds her all dressed up for a date and she’s not exactly pleased to see him.  He realizes Ben set them up and she reluctantly invites him in for a beer.  He asks about her date and she admits that she can never really be with Dean; that they'll never work.  She says she’s trying to get over him, but wants to know what he wants from them.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - The suspicious factory worker (Johnny) is freaking out over the phone, saying the feds are onto him, when he too appears to be attacked, but Sam swoops in to save the day.  He pours protective salt circles and then demands that he tell them what Johnny and his friends did to Rose.  Johnny says it was just a joke: they made Rose think she had a secret admirer, lured her to an apartment, set up a mannequin at the table and then laughed about her humiliation.  She went to storm out, one of the men grabbed her arm and then she fell, cracking her head on the coffee table.  The boys decided to cover up her death.   Sam asks where Rose is buried and Johnny tells him.  He orders Johnny to stay behind the salt lines and goes off to dig up the body.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - Back at Lisa’s, Dean goes to talk to Ben.  Ben asks Dean to apologize and just come home, but Dean says he can’t do that.  Dean says he can’t be around them because his job can make him a bad person and he doesn’t want Ben to turn out like him.  Ben flat out tells Dean that they’re his family and he’s walking out on them.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - Sam digs up Rose’s bones, burns them, and then calls Johnny to tell him he’s free.  While driving back to Sam, Dean keeps having flashbacks to time spent with Ben and Lisa.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - Johnny heads back to his house where we find out he’s a bona fide psycho: he has a mannequin on his bed that he pretends is his girlfriend.  A mannequin who suddenly becomes possessed.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - The next morning, Sam checks out the crime scene at Johnny’s apartment and leaves a message for Dean that Rose’s ghost is still alive and strong.  He returns to Rose’s sister (Isabelle) and realizes that she’s visited all of the crime scenes in the last week and that she’s the link to all of the murders.  He finds out that Rose donated a kidney to Isabelle when they were teenagers and that is keeping her tied to this plane.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - The brothers reunite to discuss how to save Isabelle and get rid of Rose’s ghost.  They decide on hoodoo right around the time Rose’s ghost possesses the Impala and chases down Dean.  The car finally stops and the boys see blood pouring from Isabelle’s mouth.  Rose’s ghost appears to say she’s sorry and Isabelle dies.

Supernatural 6.14 "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Review - Back at Bobby’s, Dean is fixing up his poor Impala.  Dean tells Sam they just leave messes everywhere they go, while Sam tells them they do occasionally save people.  Sam thanks Dean for getting him his soul back and then tells his brother (for real, this time) that he’s got his back.

The Vampire Diaries 2.15 "The Dinner Party" Review - The werewolf chapter is over for now in Mystic Falls allowing the spotlight to fall once again on all things vampire and this means we're in for the treat of flashbacks, once again this device does not fail to disappoint.

 

The Vampire Diaries 2.15 "The Dinner Party" Review - The dinner party of the title could not have been more forced and awkward if it tried (well maybe if Isobel had turned up). Damon doesn't always listen to reason so Alaric trying to prevent Damon from attempting to kill Elijah was an uphill battle, though it once again paved the way for some banter between the two, which by now you know that I love. After the reveal from original John's journal that the dagger if wielded by a vampire would kill that vampire as well, Alaric managed to stop Damon in time making Elijah's life expectancy go up. The surprise that Alaric would take an opportunity to kill Elijah whilst Jenna was in the house was definitely a shocking but very cool moment. It's a shame that Elena hadn't read the Original killing small print that said the dagger had to remain in the body, these Originals really are a pesky bunch to kill. In a not so good 'what are you doing Alaric' moment, why oh why would he give up his ring to John, I know this might get John to stop with the baiting but that ring sure has come in handy for Alaric, now there will be maximum peril.


The Vampire Diaries 2.15 "The Dinner Party" Review - Elijah has been a most excellent foil this season so it was sad to see him go tonight, the manner in which it happened was however pretty damn awesome and once again showed that Elena is not a girl who is always in need of saving, she is part of the team and can make her own choices. After calling Elena's 'I'm going to stab myself' bluff, she did indeed plunge the knife in to her gut, to draw Elijah in, in this moment Elena managed to stab him and this time they remembered to leave the knife in. Damon's reminder of "Little tip, don't pull the danger out" was a nice tension breaker, after all that had happened in this episode the tension most definitely needed breaking. Stefan not objecting to Elena's plan by not swooping in with his hero hair showed that he has indeed listened to her point of view regarding the whole sacrifice shenanigans. In fact I would say that this has been a good week for these two regarding openness and honesty, not something that Alaric is willing to do with Jenna yet who is still completely oblivious to anything supernatural goings on.

The Vampire Diaries 2.15 "The Dinner Party" Review - The device used for Stefan giving Elena full disclosure is the brilliant flashbacks, with these being the first proper ones of Damon and Stefan as fully fledged vampires. It might seem like an easy trick to have Stefan and Damon in reversed roles but it is so wonderfully executed and shows why Stefan has so much guilt. Paul Wesley really seems to take such relish in these scenes where he gets to be so animalistic and behave like he doesn't have a care in the world. Of course the return of Lexi added to my enjoyment of these flashbacks, it's not a surprise that she was the one who managed to tame Stefan and seeing her again showed what a devastating blow it was that Damon killed her last year. I'm sure that this isn't the last we will see of her and I'm still hoping for that Bon Jovi flashback, but it reinforces how important she was to Stefan and why Stefan is who he is today. His need to help new vampires such as Vicki and Caroline clearly stems from how Lexi helped him but it also allows him to show why Elena shouldn't give up either.

The Vampire Diaries 2.15 "The Dinner Party" Review - In amongst all of this Bonnie and Jeremy have some nice flirtation after their passionate and much anticipated kiss from last week. Jeremy is clearly smitten and acts like her protector with Dr Martin and Luka. Only one out of these goes so well, the other ends with him pinned to a wall like something out of an exorcism movie. Things turn bad for Bonnie who has her powers drained, apparently for her own good. Not that we can trust Dr Martin and the process of this draining looks disturbingly invasive but could he be protecting her from the ritual that has taken his own daughter? Are the Martins and the Bennetts the original founders of Mystic Falls?

The Vampire Diaries 2.15 "The Dinner Party" Review - To our favourite trapped vampire Katherine who looked less than well when Damon took her a care package of blood. His purpose was to find out whether he could kill Elijah and for once Katherine seemed genuinely scared that he would do it and she would be trapped in the tomb forever. In forgetting that Katherine is rarely genuine about anything set up the final scene perfectly with the mystery brunette in Damon's much recently used bathroom. But of course with Elijah dead his compulsion is broken setting Katherine free and letting her offer her help, that sounds like a good idea right? Of course she was provocative in this offer, doing so in the nude in front of Damon who for once was lost for words.

The Vampire Diaries 2.15 "The Dinner Party" Review - This episode was full of tension, shocks and propelled the vampire story forward, making the werewolf business seem like an age ago. The flashbacks worked effectively and allowed us to see 'bad' Stefan and the return of Lexi. A+

The Big Bang Theory 4.16 "The Cohabitation Formulation" Review - With the past few weeks, I feel that TBBT has slowly slipped into a rut and began to only use marginally funny jokes of science and a great amount of sexual humor. It seems I may have spoken too soon as TBBT has come back around and surprised not only me but I believe a lot of viewers last night. Does it seem TBBT is finally regaining its foothold in comedy?

 

The Big Bang Theory 4.16 "The Cohabitation Formulation" Review - This week showed a slight deviation from other episodes as it split its time across 3 stories, 2 of which were connected. To start, we the viewers were thrust into the love life of Howard and Bernadette. The two have been a couple for quite some time and every now and then we get a glimpse into their life. This week actually gave us more on their relationship than what we have seen before. With Bernadette feeling awkward with Howard leaving every night after sex, she asks him to choose between her and his mother. Oh if Bernadette knew what she was asking of Howard. For most this is a semi difficult decision but, for Howard this is like asking to choose between his girlfriend and air. The relationship between Howard and his Mother is one of the funnier story lines that have gone on since season one. The scenes tonight between the two were no exception. It was a gutsy move for the writers to rely on the same joke between Howard and his Mother (The whole sex criminal routine was done about 4 times) but I believe it really paid off in the end. I laughed every time it happened and sadly I will probably laugh just as hard when I watch it on reruns/DVD.


The Big Bang Theory 4.16 "The Cohabitation Formulation" Review - The two crossing stories were really not as good as I hoped. With Raj's sister Priya returning, Leonard sees this as a chance to get back together with her. This leads of course to Penny starting to feel insecure about herself and begins to spiral downward emotionally... again. While it is nice to see that Penny is showing signs that she still may have feelings for Leonard, I feel like it is every other week Penny gets emotional about Leonard dating. At least this time around Penny had Amy there to comfort her and this lead to some great moments this week. With Amy being the female equivalent of Sheldon, I expected the consoling from Amy to be somewhat rooted in science and zany formulas that we know Sheldon uses with his friends. However, the writers did a nice job throwing in a little curve and have Amy use Penny as an experiment for her research. Now I know Sheldon from time to time will experiment on his friends but to see Amy use Penny at her lowest point for science really showed me that not only are Amy and Sheldon meant to be together but, Amy and Penny's relationship as friends is analogous to that of Sheldon and Leonard. One can only hope for a great double date between the four of them.

The Big Bang Theory 4.16 "The Cohabitation Formulation" Review - This episode started to restore my faith in the show but it still seems that TBBT is quite a ways away from being the way it was in its first two seasons. Hopefully by season end we can not only see an emergence of Penny and Leonard together again but an emergence of more episodes like this.

The Vampire Diaries Preview: Katherine's an Annoying House Guest - A new episode of The Vampire Diaries will be airing on February 24.  Unsurprisingly, Katherine immediately gets on everyone's nerves, but insists that they'll need her help to kill Klaus.  Of course, how to kill Klaus is a problem because, as Jonas points out, the only dagger that can kill him is currently embedded in Elijah's chest.  Jonas and Luka also aren't that interested in helping Stefan, Bonnie and the others to defeat Klaus, which leads to a big confrontation.

Just when you didn't think Bob, Jillian, and the gang could get all warm and cuddly, they come back and surprise you. But, wait! Is this a love-fest or potentially the most dramatic episode of the season? I guess we're just going to have to wait and see.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day The beginning of the episode sees the two teams switching to black and red uniforms. Brett and Cara's team is becoming a more unified Red team, and Bob and Jillian's crew is dressing in black. From now on, the teams will be directly competing and life will look a lot more like we're used to seeing it at the Biggest Loser ranch.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Right away, Alison introduces a challenge. She leads the teams into a room covered in chocolates, candles and rose petals. It's a temptation challenge! It's business as usual; everyone is given three minutes alone with the candy, and the person who eats the most wins. However, this time there is a catch. The winner of the temptation challenge can choose to either swap two people from each team, or to keep the teams the way they are. In addition, the winner of the challenge will be kept anonymous and no one will know who ate and who didn't. Because love is blind, or something like that. That's what Alison says, anyway. This seems to change a lot of people's minds as to whether they would eat or not. Anonymity is an addicting possibility.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Sara goes first. She informs the camera that, "We didn't come here to eat chocolate!" and doesn't eat. Wisely put, Sara. Next is Jen, who also doesn't eat, and Hannah, who expresses her hatred for Valentine's Day by also not eating.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Next up is Q. Especially seeing last week's drama, and the promise he made to Larialmy to do his most to lose weight, he can't really afford to mess up. However, he doesn't want to leave his fate in anyone else's hands, so he eats four pieces of chocolate.

She is committed to keeping her team together, and since she's one of the smaller competitors anyway, one can argue that she maybe has a little bit of wiggle room as far as the weight-loss goes.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Moses eats twenty-one pieces. At the end of the three minutes, he says that he feels like he let his team down because he knows he could have eaten a lot more candy. I'm sorry, but don't people usually cry because they consumed too many calories and let their team down that way? This seems like some kind of bizarre flip. YOU GUYS, MY WORLD IS TURNING UPSIDE DOWN.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Arthur is up next. As we already know, Arthur does not like letting other people determine his fate. He eats thirty-five chocolates. Arthur points out that this is still a game, and that you have to start playing eventually.

She tells Jen and Jay to switch places with Sara and Deni. This is a baffling move. Everyone assumes that someone on the Red team must have won. Taking the Black team's two strongest players and replacing them with the Red team's two weakest? Heck, even I thought that. I'm confused. Did someone eat more than Arthur? Did the show choose not to reveal this person, to keep true to the anonymity factor? What's going on?

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Everyone cries and is angry and then cries again. Everyone hugs and Alison hands people new tee shirts. Jen burbles something vaguely coherent about how she doesn't like the color red because black is more slimming than red and therefore she is sad to leave her team. I'm not sure, but I think it was a metaphor?

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Then Arthur speaks up and I am even more confused. He reveals that he was the one who won the challenge, and says that he feels he owes everyone an explanation for why he chose the way he did. He does not trust Jen and Jay, and so got rid of them in favor of players who he thought were weaker than he and his dad. He tries to play it like a loyalty card, saying he wants to make sure to save people he is loyal to in favor of sending Deni and Sara home.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Absolutely no one is glad to hear this. Courtney, in particular, looks like she is going to shoot someone. Harsh words are exchanged on both sides, and Jen tells Arthur that in the end, the scale will show. Alison actually has to cut the hate fest short.

Good Intentions
'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day The next day in the gym, Bob and Jillian come in and pretend to be shocked while everyone explains what happens. Arthur tries to explain himself again, and he gets yelled at some more. Finally, Arthur breaks down in tears. Jillian gives him a hug. Since when does Jillian hug people? Watching Arthur cry is kind of heartbreaking, and his team must ultimately agree, because eventually they concede that he had "good intentions but poor execution" and they cut him a break. Which makes me breathe a sigh of relief, I don't know about you. I'm a softy like that.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day The Red team shows up at the gym to work out and things get kind of tense, because this is the first time that the two teams will have to share the gym. I guess last week doesn't count because Bob and Jillian weren't there the whole time? Cara looks terrified, even when she is punching things.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Brett and Cara work out in front of the team for a while, apparently to show that they can "walk the walk as well as talk the talk," but as the Black team points out, the Red team isn't burning any calories just standing there watching.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Halfway through the workout, Olivia has another little fit. The Red team's workout is loud. People are shouting and grunting and punching things. Hannah agrees with her sister that it's the most disrespectful thing she has seen since coming to the Ranch. "I can't even hear my trainer!" Olivia yells in frustration. Jillian tries to calm Olivia down by saying something like, "You are in your skin and they are in their skins and no one can change the place of where you skin is in the gym." Um?

Challenge
'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Alison shows up wearing a pair of truly tragic camo cargo pants and I know that it's time to mentally prepare myself for another Valentine's themed challenge. And I'm right! Who would have thought? This week, the teams are fighting for videos from home. Each team forms groups of two and is sent to do five different tasks. At the completion of each task, they get a wrapped package, and at the end of all five tasks they will have to use the contents of the packages to solve one final challenge.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day The first challenge is the rolling of a boulder up a hill. The catch is that the roller of the boulder is blindfolded, and their partner has to direct them. This challenge features Courtney and Olivia against Kaylee and Jen. The boulders crash into each other and Kaylee almost rolls her boulder over the edge of the bank, but both teams finish within seconds of each other, with Courtney and Olivia taking a small lead for the Black team.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day The second challenge involves stacking bricks six feet in the air. The tower has to hold for five full seconds. Marci and Irene already have a slight lead over Rulon and Austin, and they finish first, but again, by mere seconds. At this point, the race is still pretty tight.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day The third challenge involves putting five different meals in caloric order from lowest to highest. This time, Sara and Deni beat Ken and Justin handily. I think the trick here was realizing that chili is actually fairly low in calories, because as soon as the girls figured this out, everything else fell into place and they were running away while the men were still stuck thinking that chili has the same caloric content as a cheeseburger and chips. This is the first instance in which I think the Red team's catered meals are putting them at a disadvantage. Maybe if they had to prepare their own food, they would learn more about the how and why of nutrition.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day The next challenge involves walking a log across the length of two telephone poles. Arthur and Jesse have to hold the log between them while walking along the poles. Especially since the temptation challenge, Arthur has a lot to prove to his team. This is a nerve-wracking event. Arthur falls once and has to start over, but they get it on the second try. The Black team moves on to the last challenge, while the Red team is still stuck on the nutrition challenge. Q yells helpful things to his teammates like, "THINK HARDER!" Good advice, Q.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Hannah's event is last. She has twenty-five arrows and has to shoot one of them in the inside of a fairly enormous heart tacked to a hay bale. She pretends to be nervous, but nails it on the first try. Everyone runs off to the very last event. They unwrap their presents, and inside are big puzzle pieces. They solve the puzzle, and the end result is a big, black heart. Everyone gets videos from home and they jump around excitedly. Good job, Black team! On Valentine's Day, Bob and Jillian come over and everyone watches their videos from home together. Predictably, everyone cries.

Weigh-In
'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Once again, this is a high-pressure weigh-in. Arthur has to pull a huge number this week to make things up to his team, and Sara and Deni have to pull similarly big numbers to prove that they aren't just sacrificial lambs.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day The weigh-in starts with the Red team. Jay is up first. He loses fourteen pounds, which is huge. The camera pans to Arthur's face and you can tell that he regrets throwing such a strong competitor away.

(This week, because the teams are competing against each other, there is no yellow line and the percentage of weight lost is shown for the total group, not for individuals.)

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Q loses seven pounds. This is officially a Big Deal. His team decides that seven pounds is simply unacceptable, especially because he promised Larialmy last week that he would not throw away his opportunity to stay at the Ranch. Justin tries to read Q a guilt trip, but then Justin only loses ten pounds and apparently that is okay, so I am really confused right now.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Rulon loses twelve pounds ad Kaylee loses five. Next up is Moses. Alison informs him that, if he breaks one hundred pounds of weight lost this week, he will break the record for the contestant to lose one hundred pounds the fastest. Moses loses eleven pounds and smashes the record! Kaylee runs up and hugs him and it's just about the sweetest thing I ever saw.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day As a whole, the Red team loses ninety-seven pounds and 3.43%. In order to beat them, the Black team has to lose seventy-seven pounds, which is nine pounds a person. Everyone, especially Arthur, looks nervous.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Deni and Sara are first. New to the team, and expected to be underdogs, they have a lot to prove. But then, Deni loses nine pounds and Sara loses ten! This is phenomenal and they get a lot of hugs all around.

He looks properly ashamed of himself, but I have to wonder what is going on that is keeping this man from throwing up bigger numbers? Bob is strangely encouraging instead of getting mad, which makes me wonder if there isn't a bigger issue going on that we aren't being shown on screen.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Jesse loses eleven pounds, which is amazing. At this point, everyone has lost at least the nine pounds required for the Black team to win, so things are certainly looking good, but the Black team isn't out of the woods yet.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Courtney loses ten pounds and Marci loses an amazing thirteen! She has lost fifty-one pounds since the beginning of her time at the Ranch, and this is a huge accomplishment for her.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Olivia is up next. The sisters usually lose around six or eight pounds each, but this week Olivia loses an amazing sixteen pounds, officially winning the week for the Black team!

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Irene and Hannah get weighed, too, just to finish things up, and they lose twelve and nine pounds, respectively. Not only did the Black team beat the Red team percentage-wise, with a fantastic 4.38%, they also crushed them pound-wise. Considering the fact that the Black team consists of more women and thus, smaller contestants, this is amazing.

Elimination
'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day As the person with the highest percentage of weight lost this week (6.07%), Jen has immunity, so no one can vote for her. She, however, votes for Q. So does Jay. After the drama of last week and his relatively poor showing on the scales, this isn't super surprising.

'Biggest Loser' Celebrates Valentine's Day Q himself votes for Jay. Ken votes for Q. Moses votes for Q, as well. Next is Justin's turn to vote. After all the guilt trips Justin has laid on Q over the course of the season, it's no surprise when he votes for Q, as well. Everyone tells him how much they love him and what a great man he is.  But, Q is still sent home.

Q himself has lost 92 pounds since the show started, and he weighs 345! We watch Q and Larialmy celebrate Valentine's Day. I like his tie. Q explains that, in past years, Valentine's Day was all about food for him and Larialmy, so this year he is going to show her his commitment to change. So he takes her to the gym. And they work out together.
