The Big C 2x9 A Little Death Online rings down the fire on Cathy Jamison, who is a seemingly reserved suburban woman and mother whose got recently diagnosed with stage IV melanoma. And the best thing about it is that, she’s not getting a big fuss of things! What a woman! So first things first. She initially chooses to keep the fact of her terminal illness a secret from her family, but then, why hide it. she learned to deal with it in any way! That’s the girl! Where she first behaves in puzzling ways and increasingly bizarre, she also finds new freedom to express herself. Being a cancer patient, it’s always hard to look good, feel good, and live good. But this woman definitely takes it to the bottom of her heart to live life like she’s got no plague at all. Alessandra Stanley of the New York Times even wrote “The Big C works because most of the writing is strong and believable, and so is Ms. Linney, who rarely sounds a false note and here has perfect pitch… the series is at its best when sardonic and subdued.” Not only that. The show also received mixed reviews from Washington Post critic Hank Stuever: “Buoyed by scalpel-sharp writing and even keener performances, The Big C 2x9 A Little Death Online walks a fine line of having it both ways. It’s for people who are repelled by the warm-fuzzy, disease-o’-the-week dramas of cable television,” while EW.com’s Ken Tucker quibbled with its major plot point: “My big problem with The Big C concerns a crucial decision the show made for the early episodes: Cathy declines to tell those closest to her that she has cancer. Previously, Cathy hosted Thanksgiving dinner at her house but when a secret she kept hiding was downcast, the events took a disastrous wrong turn; with insurance costs mounting, Paul considered a different means of generating income.

For the next episode, Rebecca will have to deal with her miscarriage in an unexpected way which will lead Cathy to reconnect with old friends. Andrea’s relationship with Myk will heat up, and Adam will be taken by a big surprise when he finally meets the girl he’s been chatting with in an online cancer support group.
